The Charlotte Hornets have not gained traction over the last few seasons. Despite boasting a superstar in LaMelo Ball and some formidable players in Miles Bridges and Mark Williams, the Hornets always seem to be at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
The Hornets currently have the fourth pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, which could help them bolster their roster in their efforts to change their fortunes. The offseason could see the Hornets put themselves in great positions, especially if some rumored deals come to life.
While rumors are not always accurate, usually where there is smoke, there is fire. Could the Hornets be one player away from contending in the Eastern Conference? Could that player be the fourth pick of the draft or a veteran acquired by trade or free agency? That remains to be seen.

Could The Hornets Be In The Market For Myles Turner?
The Hornets have several options they could look into this offseason, especially while attempting to keep the fourth pick. The fourth pick in the draft could become a game changer, especially if a player like Ace Bailey or Dylan Harper is available at that pick. If the fourth pick isn’t enough to bolster the Charlotte roster fully, they have another option that’s being rumored.
Myles Turner, the big man for the Indiana Pacers, is having an excellent season. Currently playing for the Pacers who are competing for a chance at the NBA Finals in the playoffs, Turner is locked in. Despite his success in Indiana, Turner has always been rumored to be on the trading block, and according to a mock sign-and-trade, he might land in Charlotte.

Turner, who is under a 2-year, $40,903,500 contract, could fit well into the Hornets’ offense and provide them with defense. The Hornets could use Turner’s defense, as they currently lack an anchor on that side of the ball. Turner, who averaged 15.6 points and 6.5 rebounds during the regular season, has been consistent this postseason. Turner could land in Charlotte on a sign-and-trade that sends matching salary and players to Indiana.
With his 23-point and 8-rebound performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers and 19-point performance against the Knicks, Turner has been consistent, becoming one of the reasons why the Pacers are two wins away from the NBA Finals.
Who Will The Hornets Select in the 2025 NBA Draft?
In the latest NBA mock draft from PFSN Analyst Brandon Austin, Charlotte is projected to select VJ Edgecombe from Baylor.
Austin wrote, “Even without securing the top overall pick, the Charlotte Hornets are in a position to land an immediate difference-maker at No. 4, and VJ Edgecombe checks nearly every box.
“The Big 12 Freshman of the Year made a significant impact in his lone season at Baylor, and heās emerged as arguably the most explosive athlete in the draft. At 6ā5ā³, Edgecombe combines elite athleticism with a relentless motor, giving Charlotte a high-energy presence on the wing.
“Edgecombe also has defensive tools that can help set the foundation under new head coach Charles Lee. His lateral quickness and ability to switch across multiple positions could give Charlotte a much-needed perimeter stopper to help reshape the teamās identity on that end.

“With LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Miles Bridges leading the offensive charge, Edgecombe wonāt need to carry a heavy scoring load from Day 1. Instead, he can make his mark as a defensive disruptor, transition threat, and high-motor contributor whoās not afraid to get his hands dirty.
“While still developing his handle and overall shot creation, Edgecombe shows promising offensive instincts and unselfishness. His flashes as a passer and feel for playing within a system point to significant long-term growth. He also impressed on the international stage, holding his own alongside NBA players like DeAndre Ayton and Buddy Hield with the Bahamian national team during the 2024 FIBA Menās Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.
“Edgecombe brings energy, toughness, and elite athleticism ā traits that will transfer right away. With time, he could blossom into a highly impactful two-way player who elevates Charlotteās young core.
