Warriors face stiff competition from two teams in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes as new trade deadline details emerge.

James Harden will now be wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, and Anthony Davis has been moved again. He has now been shipped to the Washington Wizards. NBA Insider’s Latest Revelation Regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo

Since the beginning of the year, several NBA analysts have predicted that there is a strong chance that Antetokounmpo could be traded before the deadline. The most talked-about destinations for him have been the Golden State Warriors. Looking at those rumors, they gained some momentum when reports suggested the Warriors would be willing to include Draymond Green in a potential trade package for the two-time MVP.

For a while, it seemed like Golden State might be leading the race. However, that idea has now been challenged.

During a recent segment on ESPN, NBA insider Brian Windhorst revealed that the Warriors are not the only team aggressively monitoring Antetokounmpo’s situation, as both the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves are also keeping a close eye on the Bucks star.

“I’m watching the Miami Heat and Timberwolves. They are out there in the marketplace trying to improve the offer they can make to Milwaukee… Milwaukee has listened, had some back and forth, but hasn’t indicated they actually will trade him….”

“The Warriors have put everything they can on the table. I am not aware of the Knicks doing things to improve their offer, and they don’t have the offer MIL is going to take. In my view, this is a 3 horse race for Giannis. The choice is really down to the Bucks and ownership. I know that Giannis is ready to move,” Windhorst said during an ESPN segment.

Now, to be fair, this update from Windhorst isn’t exactly breaking new ground.

NBA Insider Jake Fischer had already mentioned that the Milwaukee Bucks might actually be open to sending Antetokounmpo to a Western Conference team, and he specifically named the Timberwolves and the Heat as potential destinations.

“At this point, all this momentum it seems like Minnesota does. I’ve heard internally Milwaukee values Minnesota’s potential package and Miami’s potential package over the Warriors,” Fischer said during a recent segment.

If Antetokounmpo were to land in Minnesota, it could completely change the direction of the Timberwolves. He is currently averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 64.5% from the field.

Now, adding that level of dominance to a team already known for defense would make Minnesota a serious contender. If we see Anthony Edwards benefit the most, as Antetokounmpo will be constantly drawing double teams near the rim, Edwards would have more space to attack. In simple words, he would not face the same defensive pressure every night.

On the other hand, a Miami Heat pairing with Antetokounmpo would create a formidable two-man frontcourt with Bam Adebayo. The Greek Freak’s ability to attack the basket and crash the boards would complement Adebayo’s defense.

With that said, most fans seem skeptical about the Heat situation. Miami is more focused on landing Ja Morant, which makes an Antetokounmpo pursuit seem kind of unlikely. So really, when you break it all down, it looks like the main competition is between the Timberwolves and the Warriors.
