The pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo has reportedly narrowed down to a battle between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. As the Milwaukee Bucks superstar continues to draw interest, Boston seems willing to make nearly every player available in trade talks except Jayson Tatum.
Recently, fresh developments have emerged about a potential deal involving Jaylen Brown to help the Celtics land Antetokounmpo.

Boston Celtics Intensify Trade Pursuit for Giannis Antetokounmpo Involving Jaylen Brown
With the NBA Draft now less than two weeks away, the possibility of a blockbuster move involving Antetokounmpo appears closer than ever, and Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam recently indicated that the Bucks hope to have clarity on Antetokounmpo’s future before the draft.
Basketball insider Bill Simmons reported on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” that the Boston Celtics have aggressively pursued Antetokounmpo and submitted a formal trade proposal within the past week.
Meanwhile, Marc Stein’s latest updates continue to hint at Boston as a potential landing spot for Antetokounmpo.
“I have also spoken to teams and well-placed insiders around the league who believe that it remains possible that Antetokounmpo does not ultimately land on South Beach,” Stein wrote.
“As we’ve been reporting since late May, Boston is increasingly projected to be the other landing spot that Giannis prefers to be steered to … without overtly pushing as hard as he possibly can.”

Despite playing only 36 games last season due to injuries, Antetokounmpo remained dominant, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.
For Boston, potentially securing a player of his caliber would be a franchise-altering acquisition.
From Milwaukee’s standpoint, Brown remains a highly appealing trade asset, as he is fresh off delivering one of the best seasons of his career this past season.
He averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 47.7% from the field. He also finished sixth in MVP voting and earned All-NBA Second Team honors.
The Celtics would prefer to keep Brown, but league speculation suggests they could consider moving him if it means landing Antetokounmpo.
Meanwhile, Stein also spoke on the possibility of a third team becoming involved to facilitate such a deal.
“Does Atlanta or Portland want to be the third team that joins the party to acquire Jaylen Brown and help facilitate a trade that makes Antetokounmpo a Celtic?” Stein continued.
“The closest thing to a certainty, as of publication time this Sunday, is that we’re nearing clarity. The strongest belief expressed in my various conversations is that an actual trade to end this long-running saga after Antetokounmpo’s 13 seasons as a Buck is indeed drawing near.”
While Stein’s report remains based on league chatter rather than confirmed negotiations, one major obstacle is the finances of a potential deal.
Brown, 29, is coming off a career-best season and still has three years and $183 million remaining on his contract, making any potential multi-team trade challenging to execute.
