Another day, another injury report that puts New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson in the headlines. Having only recently returned to the court after a hamstring strain left him hamstrung for two weeks, Williamson will now be sidelined again.
NBA World Dismayed By Pelicans Star Zion Williamson’s Latest Injury
The 2019 No. 1 pick will be out for at least three weeks due to a right adductor strain, per ESPN insider Shams Charania. The said timeline leaves the door open for Williamson to get healthy before the start of the new year. Nevertheless, many are dismayed by the reality that he’s constantly on the mend.
Reacting to Williamson’s latest injury update, well-known Yahoo Sports podcaster and writer Kevin O’Connor writes that it’s “really sad how the injuries don’t stop… The highs have been so high with him but (it’s) hard to feel any confidence (that) he’ll stay on the floor.”

ProphetX Hoops, the basketball-centric arm of ProphetX, says Williamson is “always missing extended time for something.”

Then there’s fan Rahul Kumar Maurya, who says: “It feels like the same story every season. Just when things start looking up, another injury happens. It’s frustrating for the fans and has to be even harder for him.”

While several other responses are rolling in, those three encapsulate the overarching sentiment regarding Williamson and the Pelicans.
As O’Connor notes, though he’s undoubtedly an otherworldly talent when healthy, it’s challenging to have faith in his durability.
That leads into what ProphetX Hoops expresses: Williamson isn’t just frequently unavailable, but also sustains the types of injuries that require more extended recovery periods.
Ultimately, the situation is redundant and frustrating, exactly what Maurya believes it to be. So, is it time to move on from Zion?
Unfortunately for the Pelicans, Williamson’s injury history puts them in a difficult position. The level of dominance he routinely displays cannot be ignored, but his inconsistent availability makes him a difficult player to build around. New Orleans could move him in an effort to land a more reliable piece, but Williamson’s trade value isn’t at an optimal level.
