Inside Warriors Star Draymond Green’s Bizarre Confrontation With Pelicans Fan Over Angel Reese Taunts

Draymond Green recently had a shocking confrontation with a Pelicans fan, and now the inside story of the bizarre moment has been revealed.

Draymond Green has been one of the most polarizing stars in the NBA since he entered the league, and throughout his career with the Golden State Warriors, he’s been no stranger to controversy, on and off the floor. With 23 career ejections, Green ranks second all-time to only Rasheed Wallace in ejections, and with a total of 181 career technical fouls (postseason included), this is a player that can toe the line and cross it too.

Recently, we saw one of the most bizarre interactions ever, when Green confronted a fan courtside as the Warriors took on the New Orleans Pelicans on the road.

Draymond Green reveals the story behind shocking fan interaction

After the game, in which Green had no points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists, he addressed the situation, revealing that an ‘Angel Reese taunt’ was at the center of this shocking interaction. First, Green noted that he was called a ‘woman’s name’ by the fan, revealing that it was a good joke at first, but after that, the fan seemingly took it too far.

“It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I got four kids, one on the way. You can’t keep calling me a woman … He was talking at first. Then you get a little closer and he didn’t really say much else. But it’s fine. We move on.”

The fan has since been identified as 35-year-old Sam Green, a native of New Orleans, who seemed amused by the entire interaction as officials and players tried to separate Green from the courtside fan.

When asked for his side of the story, Green admitted that he was calling the Warriors veteran Angel Reese because he had grabbed several rebounds without taking a shot, noting that he was, however, shocked that Draymond went out of his way to approach him.

“I wasn’t using profanity and for him to walk 12ft off the court to come and get in my face like that, it was a little unnerving.”

Thankfully, nothing came of the confrontation, as the two Greens were quickly separated by players and officials, and while some fans can overstep their boundaries, if the reasoning given behind it is true, it’s a bad look for the Warriors star.

Clearly, there is blame on both sides of this situation, but for an NBA player, and a very experienced veteran at that, to react like this to taunts from a fan is not a great look, and while Green continues to show off his ‘tough guy’ persona, in this situation, it just wasn’t necessary at all.
