Donovan Mitchell was in attendance for Super Bowl 60 in Santa Clara, California. Obviously, he didn’t have much to do with the game itself or even its halftime performance. However, he apparently took a prop from Bad Bunny’s halftime performance, and he recently gave the details of how that all went down.
Donovan Mitchell Boasts His ‘Historic’ Grab From Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show
In an exclusive interview with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears, Mitchell gave the full details on how he gained access to the prop.
“I did steal a [tree] prop from [Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LXI halftime performance],” Mitchell told Spears. “I took one home. So, that’s kind of outside of it being about Courtney [Coco Jones] that whole night, the whole day, that was probably one of my prouder moments being able to steal part of the halftime show.
“As we were leaving on a golf cart, I saw the dancers in the trees. And they were throwing [the tree costumes] away, some were keeping them. I watched this happen, and I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to take one home.’ I went up there, I said, ‘Hey, can I grab one?’ They gave me one. I took it and sped off in the golf cart. It’s historic. That’s how I look at it.
“So, I saw one go on the internet for [$10,000] on eBay. As it ages, it probably can go for [$50,000-$60,000].” There is a video of Mitchell holding one of the tree props as he and his fiancée, Coco Jones, were leaving the arena.

Mitchell clearly wanted a memento for such an occasion. It is the Super Bowl, after all. It’s one of the most momentous occasions of the year that many tune in to each year. Funny enough, it doesn’t even sound like Mitchell technically “stole” this prop, since those running the show had planned to throw it away anyway.
Mitchell attended the Super Bowl amid the Cavaliers’ West Coast road trip. One reason he was there might be that Jones was selected to sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” the unofficial Black national anthem. Mitchell and Jones were engaged last July, with the couple announcing the news on Instagram.
The 29-year-old guard is having a busy time. He took part in the NBA 3-point contest and suited up for the Team USA Stripes in the All-Star Game. He is now reportedly set to spend some off time with Jones in his New York City-area residence before resuming the season for the Cavaliers. They play on Feb. 19 in a home game against the Brooklyn Nets.
