DeMar DeRozan made NBA history during Wednesday's game between the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets.

On Wednesday evening, the Sacramento Kings played the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center.

Despite Sacramento losing by a 128-97 score, DeMar DeRozan finished with 15 points, 7 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 steal while shooting 4-for-7 from the field in 24 minutes of playing time.

DeMar DeRozan Made Major NBA History

During the loss, DeRozan also made major NBA history.

The 17-year NBA veteran is now one of six active players in the top 20, joining No. 1 LeBron James, No. 6 Kevin Durant, No. 9 James Harden, No. 14 Russell Westbrook and No. 19 Stephen Curry. DeRozan and Curry – selected two picks apart in the 2009 NBA Draft – are back-to-back among the league’s career scoring leaders, separated by just 41 points.”

DeRozan is in his second season playing for the Kings.

He has also spent time with the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, and Toronto Raptors over 17 seasons.

Entering Feb. 26 action, DeRozan has averages of 18.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 49.3% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range in 60 games.

HoopsHype added: “DeMar DeRozan passed Paul Pierce and John Havlicek in scoring and is a Top 20 scorer in NBA history right now. FWIW: All the retired players in the Top 35 are in the Hall of Fame.”

With their loss to the Rockets, the Kings dropped to 13-47 in 60 games, which has them as the 15th seed in the Western Conference. The Kings have won just once in their last 10 outings.

Following the loss to the Rockets, the Kings visit the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night at American Airlines Center.

The Kings last made the NBA playoffs during the 2022 season, with the since-traded De’Aaron Fox serving as the main cog in Sacramento’s attack.
