Chicago Bulls Release 7-Year NBA Veteran

The Chicago Bulls waived Kevin Knox.

Kevin Knox is coming off a season where he played for the Golden State Warriors.

The former Kentucky star had averages of 3.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 50.0% from the field and 26.7% from the three-point range in 14 games.

Recently, Knox signed a deal with the Chicago Bulls.

However, he has now been released (and is expected to play for the Windy City Bulls).

Via K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network (October 13): “Per Bulls PR, team has waived forward Mouhamadou Gueye. As @MikeAScotto reported last week, Bulls have signed Kevin Knox, who is expected to play for Windy City.”

Where Did Kevin Knox Play Before The Chicago Bulls Organization?

Knox was the ninth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.

He had been expected to be a future star in New York, but was traded by the franchise after part of four seasons.

In addition to New York, Knox has also played for the Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers, Detroit Pistons (and Warriors).

His career averages are 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 39.3% from the field and 34.0% from the three-point range in 320 games.

Despite never becoming a starting-caliber player, Knox is still just 26, which means he could be a good addition to Windy City.

If he does well in the G League, there is no question that Knox would be a candidate to get a 10-day contract during the 2025-26 season.

Knox had a similar set up with Golden State last year.

Via NBA G League (on January 20): “Kevin Knox was on fire tonight for the Warriors! The former NBA vet erupted for 39 points, tying his career high. This marks his fourth 30+ point game of the season, and he’s now averaging 25.8 PPG during the regular season. 🔥”

The Bulls finished the 2024-25 season as the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 39-43 record.

They lost to the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament, so they missed the 2025 NBA playoffs.

Via The Golden State Warriors (on February 26): “12 PTS 5 REB 4 AST 1 STL 2 BLK Kevin Knox II was everywhere”

The Bulls will play their first game of the 2025-26 season on October 22 when they host the Detroit Pistons.
