If there’s one thing in the world that NBA fans know, it’s that they cannot control what Charles Barkley really says. And he’s done it once again. Just one tough math lesson from French phenom Victor Wembanyama, and Barkley quickly put his no-filter opinions out in the world.
Charles Barkley Reacts to Victor Wembanyama’s 65-Game Rule Math
It all started when Wembanyama recently shared his wisdom on the controversial 65-game rule, drawing the NBA world’s attention. His answer wasn’t standard by any chance. In fact, he put the media into a frenzy with his logic.
Wembanyama said, “It’s a very interesting question. If those three aren’t, especially Cade and Luka, it’s not going to reflect their impact. But at the same time, it’s good to have a threshold limit.”
He continued, “If a guy plays 50 games, 35 minutes a game, that’s 50 times 35… that’s 1750, right? And if a guy plays 75 games at 20 minutes, it’s 1500.”
Everyone was shocked by how easily he did all this math during a live interview. Wembanyama continued, “It’s a good view, in my opinion, to not have a limit. It’s one opinion… 75% of the games would be a logical thing. That would be 61.5 games, right? So, 62 games.”
Barkley had a straightforward, no-nonsense reaction to Wembanyama’s math skills.
“What we need to do is send all these bad a** American kids over to France to go to school. That’s the first thing we need to do,” Barkley said. “All these dummy kids over here. We need to send they a** to France.”

In a way, Barkley’s comment humorously reflects the plight of American teenagers. The contrast between a European professional player’s way of thinking and what one could expect from an average American teenager is significant.
Barkley’s words lit up the NBA world, leaving fans in a fit of laughter.

The infamous 65-game rule was initially enacted to prevent load management. Today, it is falling flat because stars like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Anthony Edwards are no longer eligible since they did not play in 65 games.
Other prominent stars like Cade Cunningham (collapsed lung) and Luka Dončić (hamstring injury) won’t be eligible either because they couldn’t reach the 65-game mark.
As for Wembanyama, after Friday, he became eligible for postseason awards after playing 26 minutes against Dallas.
