The Chicago Bulls are outperforming expectations.
10 games into the NBA regular season, few expected the Bulls to have a record of 6-4. It’s worth noting Chicago is on a three-game losing streak, falling to the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and San Antonio Spurs.
Much credit belongs to guard Josh Giddey, who is averaging 21.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 9.3 assists. If a trade prediction comes true, Giddey would see a major upgrade to his backcourt partner.
Bulls Predicted To Trade for Ja Morant
The Memphis Grizzlies and Ja Morant appear to be on bad terms.
Rumors and reports suggest both parties are becoming fed up with each other, so Morant seeing a change of scenery in the coming months is feasible. This is why The Ringer’s Michael Pina predicts the Bulls could trade for Morant to shine alongside Giddey in Chicago.
“I understand why it’s not the most popular idea. Chicago would add about $9 million to this year’s payroll but remain well under the tax. It would also attach $87 million to its cap sheet over the next two seasons,” Pina wrote. “Is that the absolute worst way for Chicago to spend money? Especially if Morant gets his [expletive] together and stays healthy?”
Morant averaged 23.2 points and 7.3 assists on 45.4% shooting in the 2024-2025 season. His play this year is a bit down, as he is putting up 19.2 points per game through 10 games.
What makes the 26-year-old controversial are his off-court antics and suspensions. Not to mention, he has three seasons remaining on his five-year, $197 million contract, so it’s quite a long-term commitment to the two-time All-Star.
Pina pitches the Bulls would send Coby White and Zach Collins to the Grizzlies in return.
Pina continued, “On the other side of this, Memphis would get a point guard who can shoot, cap relief, and–unrelated to this deal but worth mentioning–possibly two lottery picks in this year’s draft.”
If the Bulls are willing to bank on Morant’s maturity improving, he’s a phenomenal acquisition for the surprise Eastern Conference team.

Not smart. Morants career is forever tarnished and he will be a problem wherever he goes. After a good start and a showing of good chemistry by the Bulls this move would not be wise.
