The NBA trade deadline isn’t until Thursday afternoon, but things are already heating up as the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, and Minnesota Timberwolves have completed a three-team deal.
It is the second deal of the day as the Grizzlies and Jazz already pulled off a shocking eight-player deal earlier in the day that sent Jaren Jackson Jr. to Utah.

Bulls, Pistons, Timberwolves Complete 3-Team Deal
The Pistons and Timberwolves have been poised to be busy this week as both teams try to improve their rosters for the stretch run. The Bulls, who are almost always hovering around the play-in, would likely like to shed some money and get any assets they can.
Per Shams Charania of ESPN, Chicago, Minnesota, and Detroit have agreed to a multi-team deal. Jaden Ivey and veteran guard Mike Conley Jr. will be joining the Bulls, while Kevin Huerter and Dario Saric will be heading to the Pistons. The Pistons will also receive a 2026 protected pick-swap from the Wolves.

Huerter, who agreed to a four-year, $65 million deal prior to the 2022-23 season, will be a free agent following the season.
Although he has seen his 3-point percentage take a massive dip as of late (He shot 33.8% from 3 last year and 31.4% this year, but is a career 37.1% shooter from downtown), he is the prize in the deal as the Pistons look for more shooting.
Huerter has averaged 10.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. If he can find his range, he could be a very valuable piece for the Pistons as they head into the stretch with the Eastern Conference’s best record.
Saric, who has played just five games this season, didn’t even have time to play for the Bulls after being dealt to Chicago from the Sacramento Kings last week. He seems to be nothing more than a throw-in to ensure salaries work out.
Ivey, the fifth pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, was once considered a key piece for the Pistons, but he has struggled in his career. He’s played 16.8 minutes per game over 33 games, averaging 8.2 points per contest.
Conley Jr., a former All-Star, is now 38 years old, and his advanced age and injuries have derailed his career. Although he’s appeared in 44 games this season, he’s scoring just 4.4 points in 18.5 minutes per game and shooting 32.2% from the field.
From the perspective of the other potential contender, this clears out $10,774,038 that Conley is owed this year and gives the Bulls an expiring contract as they may finally be looking towards a complete rebuild.
It seems hard to believe the Wolves are done, as they have reportedly been involved in the pursuit of Bucks’ star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Pistons have previously been tied to Nets’ breakout star Michael Porter Jr. We’ll see if either squad makes another move before Thursday’s deadline.
