The arrival of Giannis Antetokounmpo has generated tremendous excitement among Miami Heat fans, but it has also raised concerns about the team’s perimeter shooting. Despite the growing skepticism, Heat superstar Bam Adebayo isn’t paying much attention to those doubts.
Bam Adebayo Has a Blunt Response to Miami’s Shooting Problem
The Heat finished the last season with a 43–39 record, placing 10th in the Eastern Conference. After three seasons of falling short of a deep playoff run, Miami made a franchise-defining move this offseason by acquiring Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks.
However, landing a player of Antetokounmpo’s caliber came at a cost.
The Heat had to part ways with Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, and Kasparas Jakučionis in the blockbuster deal.
While adding the former Bucks star dramatically boosts star power, losing key contributors has left Miami with less depth, and many believe the departures could affect the team’s offense.
Meanwhile, Adebayo was honored with the 2026 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Award at SLAM Charter School in Miami.
Following the ceremony, reporters asked Adebayo about the ongoing narrative surrounding the Heat’s lack of perimeter spacing and reliable outside shooters heading into the 2026–27 campaign.
While the concerns have continued to dominate discussions throughout the offseason, Adebayo made it clear that he isn’t losing sleep over them.
“Yeah, we’ll figure it out,” Adebayo said. “We don’t really worry about the outside noise too much. You know, we’ve done a lot more with less in our past years before, so we’ll figure it out.”

Adebayo appears confident that team president Pat Riley will continue to make the necessary behind-the-scenes moves, much as he did when he successfully brought Antetokounmpo to Miami.
In fact, the Heat have already started searching for answers. League insider Shams Charania recently reported that Miami’s top priority this offseason is adding more shooting, with Dallas Mavericks veteran Klay Thompson emerging as the franchise’s No. 1 target.
Acquiring Thompson would immediately address one of the team’s biggest weaknesses. Last season, the veteran sharpshooter shot 39.3% from the field and 38.3% from beyond the arc across 69 games.
He also knocked down 188 three-pointers while coming off the bench, the second-most by any reserve in the league, trailing only new Heat guard Tim Hardaway Jr.
However, the challenge is that Thompson still has one year remaining on his current contract with the Mavericks.
Even so, Miami is expected to remain patient as it completes the rest of its roster. The franchise may be waiting for Thompson to finalize a buyout with the Mavericks rather than acquiring him via a trade.
Despite bringing Antetokounmpo to Miami, the work is far from over for the Heat front office, which must provide the Adebayo-Antetokounmpo duo with enough perimeter shooting to maximize their championship potential.
