A new update regarding Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards’ injury status ahead of Friday’s contest was given. Here is the latest news on the three-time All-Star ahead of their game against the Houston Rockets.
What Is Anthony Edwards’ Injury Status Against the Houston Rockets?
For a second straight game, the Timberwolves will need to rely on someone else to be their primary option on offense. That’s because the foot injury that kept Edwards out of their game on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks will keep him out a little bit longer.
He will be sidelined once again when his team visits the Houston Rockets on Friday, as announced by the team. On a positive note, the team’s announcement suggests that the coaching staff is simply being cautious with their star’s health, listing the reason simply as “injury management.”
The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski reported that the team does not consider the injury a significant problem. However, it has been bothering Edwards as of late, and the Timberwolves’ packed schedule is exacerbating the situation.
I’ve been told the team does not view Edwards’ situation as any kind of a long-term issue. But it has been nagging at him, and the volume of games the Wolves are playing right now isn’t helping that either.

While this will be his second consecutive missed game, there doesn’t appear to be any significant injury concerns for Edwards. Overall, this will only be the sixth-year guard’s ninth absence of the 2025-26 season.
So far, his team has managed to take advantage of its depth when he’s unavailable. In the eight games that he’s missed so far, the team is 5-3.
They are also coming off a massive win over the Bucks, defeating them by 33 points while playing in front of a hostile crowd. It is also worth noting that defensive ace Rudy Gobert was not present, making the rout more impressive.
The Timberwolves displayed a tremendous team effort, but Bones Hyland stood out with his performance. In only 21 minutes of action while coming off the bench, he dropped 23 points on a 9-for-16 clip. He scored the second most for the team and was a team-high plus-41.
Among the starters, forward Julius Randle led the way with 29 points and was aided by Naz Reid’s 19 as well as Jaden McDaniels’ 17.
The knowledge that his teammates will step up even when they’re shorthanded should be a relief to Edwards. He can recuperate better knowing that his squad is in good hands, and he won’t have to rush back into action if his injury is still nagging at him.
His next chance to suit up will be on Saturday, when the Timberwolves visit Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
