With Minnesota looking to avoid a second consecutive home defeat, the game’s complexion shifted early in the second quarter.

Victor Wembanyama caught Timberwolves big man Naz Reid with an elbow to the throat. Officials quickly deemed it a Flagrant 2 foul, triggering an automatic ejection for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

While the Frenchman exited with 4 points in 12 minutes, the Timberwolves failed to take advantage right away.

“The Minnesota Timberwolves can NEVER let Anthony Edwards leave Minnesota. Ant needs to be there for his whole career. He means so much to this franchise,” ESPN’s Sam Block urged.

Playing through his knee struggles, Edwards was relentless down the stretch, pouring in clutch shots to keep Minnesota in the series.

Glowing with confidence after a crucial win, Edwards remarked, “I told the rookie [Dylan Harper] a couple possessions before the end of the game, if I would’ve had my legs, he would’ve been dunked on. He knew that.”

While the league office reviews further possible disciplinary action for Wembanyama, Edwards’ historic night might have just swung the momentum, and possibly the series, in Minnesota’s favor.
