Anthony Edwards Names His All-Time Starting 5, But Boldly Snubs NBA Legend LeBron James

No LeBron: Anthony Edwards reveals his all-time starting five with Curry, Jordan, Durant and Shaq in bold pick shocking fans

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is known for his highlight dunks and charismatic insights. Edwards is one of the most anticipated interviews in the NBA, as fans are curious what the charismatic personality will say at any moment. Edwards recently made headlines while listing his dream starting lineup that includes a notable omission: NBA icon LeBron James.

Anthony Edwards Snubs LeBron James From His Dream Starting Lineup

Edwards listed his dream starting five in an interview while leaving out James. Edwards said, “I’m going Steph Curry at the one, Anthony Edwards at the two, I’m going Mike Jordan at the three. At my four, I got to put, KD my favorite player, I got to put KD at the four. I’mma go with Shaq.”

James is consistently mentioned by fans, analysts, and even players as one of the two greatest players of all time, alongside Jordan, so his omission from Edwards’ dream starting lineup will cause more debate.

NBA champion Kendrick Perkins may feel validated after hearing Edwards’ dream starting lineup. Perkins recently caused some controversy when he declared that many of the sport’s top young stars, like Edwards, did not grow up idolizing James.

While Edwards has always praised James, he’s spoken multiple times in the past and continues to mention that Durant was his childhood hero and still his favorite player. Adding Jordan at the three instead of James, who would be a natural fit, could signal that Edwards has a clear opinion on the Jordan/James debate.

Edwards choosing Curry as his point guard isn’t that surprising, as the two players share mutual respect. Curry even wore a custom model of Edwards’ shoes while playing in the All-Star Game last month. A free agent, Curry is enjoying the recruitment process, and Edwards said he’ll try to pitch Curry on signing with Adidas.

Edwards debated whether to add Shaquille O’Neal or Hakeem Olajuwon as his starting center before deciding on O’Neal. A four-time NBA champion and 15-time All-Star, O’Neal remains one of the most physically dominant players in NBA history.

Edwards put together a strong team, but the omission of James will start more discussion regarding James’s true impact and legacy in the NBA.

Edwards and the Timberwolves are set to face James and the Los Angeles Lakers in their next game, so perhaps Edwards’ public snub will add more excitement to an already important game in the Western Conference standings.
