San Antonio Spurs Move Pick 38

    Trade Details:
San Antonio receives a future second-round pick and cash
Indiana receives pick No. 38 in the 2025 NBA Draft

Just an hour before the event, the San Antonio Spurs moved on from pick No. 38 — a second-round selection in the 2025 NBA Draft. San Antonio shipped pick 38 to the Indiana Pacers for a future second-round pick and cash considerations.

While the future second-round pick was not readily made available, the cash prompted this deal to even itself out as the Pacers have proven to be legitimate contenders in the East.

Odds are, this pick from the Spurs far outweighs the pick from the Pacers, though it’s nearly impossible not to call this a push for both sides.

Charlotte Trades Mark Williams to Phoenix for Pick No. 29

    Trade Details:
    Phoenix receives Mark Williams
Charlotte receives Vasilije Micic, No. 29 pick in 2025 NBA Draft and 2029 first-round pick (least favorable between Cleveland, Utah, and Minnesota, a 1-5 protected)

After the run on wings in the top 10 picks, the Phoenix Suns got the big veteran they needed from the Charlotte Hornets. This came after the Hornets had drafted Kon Knueppel with the fourth overall pick just a half hour prior and after the Suns also secured Khaman Maluach from Duke with the 10th overall pick.

Charlotte offloaded Williams to the Suns for pick No. 29 and a future first-round pick. It’s clear that the Hornets are hopeful that 2029 first-round pick is a high-value commodity as they lose their starting center. They’ll also hope that the run on wings leaves a potential big is available later in Round 1.

While the jury is out on who that pick will be, the additional first-round selection in 2029 helps ease the sting of losing their starting big man.

For Phoenix, the Suns get a valuable veteran commodity at a big-time position of need, even after they grabbed Maluach at pick No. 10. Maluach and Williams will give the Suns a dominant big duo.

It was also later reported that Charlotte also acquired Vasilije Micic as Phoenix was set to exercise his $8.1M team option.

Portland Trades Cedric Coward to Grizzlies for Pick No. 16

    Trade Details:
Memphis receives draft rights to Cedric Coward at No. 11
Portland receives pick No. 16 (Yang Hansen) in the 2025 NBA Draft, 2028 first-round selection (Orlando), and two second-round selections

After selecting Washington State F Cedric Coward with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Portland Trail Blazers immediately shipped the draft rights to Coward to the Memphis Grizzlies.

In exchange, the Grizzlies sent the No. 16 overall pick, their 2028 first-round pick (Orlando’s) and two second-round picks back to Portland.

Coward, the ultimate feel-good story of this draft, will head from Portland to Memphis without ever setting foot in Oregon, while the Grizzlies send a boatload of selections for his services.

It remains to be seen at the time of the trade who the Trail Blazers will ultimately land with, but it’s clear that Charlotte coveted Coward’s services. Coward, however, is an unproven commodity who only recently saw his draft stock soar, and it may be a bit before his impact is felt in the NBA.

In the end, Portland landed the first-round’s biggest surprise by drafting Yang Hansen, a center from China, who was expected to be a second-round pick.

Atlanta Trades No. 13 to New Orleans for Pick No. 23, Future First

    Trade Details:
Atlanta receives pick No. 23 (Asa Newell) and 2026 first-round pick
New Orleans receives pick No. 13 (draft rights to Derik Queen)

The Atlanta Hawks traded back in the 2025 NBA Draft, landing the No. 23 overall pick and a future, unprotected first-round pick in next year’s draft for the 13th overall pick from the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 2026 first-round pick will be the most favorable pick between New Orleans and Milwaukee for Atlanta.

With the 13th pick in the draft, the Pelicans then are set to receive Maryland C Derik Queen. The Pelicans had a clear need for a big with the skill set of Queen and they paid handsomely for it.

It’s a glaring need for the Pelicans and the Hawks still got a player they coveted as well as a favorable first-rounder in next year’s draft out of the move. Asa Newell was the engine that powered the Georgia Bulldogs a season ago and adds a terrific rim protector and offensive rebounder.

Utah Trades 21, Three Seconds for Walter Clayton Jr.

    Trade Details:
Utah receives pick No. 18 (Walter Clayton Jr.)
Washington receives pick No. 21 (Will Riley), three second-round picks

The Jazz made yet another splash in the 2025 NBA Draft, moving up three picks to secure the services of the Final Four’s top player this past season. Utah moved from pick No. 21 to pick No. 18 to draft Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr., joining Ace Bailey in what has amounted to an exciting first round for the Jazz.

Trading with the Washington Wizards, the Jazz had to send two second-round picks to Washington in addition to pick No. 21 in the 2025 NBA Draft to move up those three spots.

It was later reported that Utah sent pick No. 43 in the 2025 NBA Draft as well as second-round picks in 2031 and 2032 to Washington as part of the deal.

The Wizards ultimately selected Will Riley with the pick, a move that was graded out with a solid B in our 2025 NBA Draft grades. Riley won the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year and joins an elite grouping in doing so.

Sacramento Trades Up With Thunder to No. 24

    Trade Details:
Sacramento receives pick No. 24 (Nique Clifford)
    Oklahoma City receives tbd…

The Sacramento Kings traded up with the Oklahoma City Thunder to secure their most-coveted player. It was reported that the Kings coveted gritty, hard-nosed players and Clifford checks those boxes.

Clifford’s selection received an A grade and is one of most veteran players in this class with some of the highest-quality reps in his highlight reel.

Clifford is a rugged, do-it-all wing who plays with a chip on his shoulder and contributes in every phase of the game. The trade-up secures their top player on the board and gives the Kings a valuable asset on both ends of the court.
