Daniel Suárez Stays Positive After Five-Season Journey With Trackhouse Racing Ends

Suárez opened up in an interview with NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass and told him about his thoughts regarding the announcement. “For me, it was mainly a lot of relief, because I have known for several months that this was going to happen,” he said.

“It’s just like everything in life,” he said. “Things change, people change, companies change and that’s okay, there’s nothing wrong with that. There just wasn’t really love anymore. There are no hard feelings at all. I really want to stick to the amazing years that we had together early with Trackhouse, and it was just time for a change.”

Suarez joined Trackhouse in 2021, becoming the team’s first-ever Cup Series driver. In the following years, he earned two wins with the team, becoming the only Mexican driver to win a race in the Cup Series. But lately, things haven’t been smooth for him.

He admitted there were frustrations with the changes inside the team, particularly after his new crew chief, Matt Swiderski, pointed out certain problems. However, he has no bad blood with Trackhouse and spoke highly of his team.

Kenny Wallace Reacts in the Most Hilarious Fashion

Wallace, one of NASCAR’s most unfiltered voices, couldn’t help but react to Suárez’s comments. The former NASCAR driver had a funny reaction to his calm reaction about leaving his team.

Posting on X, Wallace said, “I’ve never witnessed a driver @Daniel_SuarezG so happy to LEAVE a team. It’s kinda funny.”

Wallace has raced for decades in NASCAR and knows the ups and downs of the sport. His take may have sounded like a subtle jab towards Trackhouse, but it made a serious situation much lighter.

What’s Next for Suárez?

Trackhouse is expected to bring in 18-year-old Connor Zilisch full-time next year to replace Suárez. Due to this contract termination, he will now be a free agent. There are a few options for him out there to continue racing in the Cup Series.

Legacy Motor Club could be a possible spot for him, depending on whether it can add a third charter. Spire Motorsports might also be an option if it shakes up its current lineup and decides to bring in Suárez to replace Justin Haley.

There’s also a chance Suárez drops back to the Xfinity Series. He recently won in Mexico City driving for JR Motorsports. His return to the JR Motorsports team would help Dale Earnhardt Jr. clinch some titles in the series.

Wherever he goes, Suárez remains one of the sport’s most experienced drivers. His story has not ended yet, even as he walks away from the team he has called home for so long.
