Who Are the Inactives for the Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Giants in Week 1?
The key name being monitored all week was on the Vikings’ side, where wide receiver Jordan Addison has been recovering from an ankle injury sustained on Aug. 14. He returned to practice on Monday, and then on Wednesday, head coach Kevin O’Connell provided an update.
“I feel pretty good about him,” O’Connell said of Addison’s status for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants.
On Friday, Addison was listed as a full participant in practice but was given no official game designation, which indicates that he will be active for Minnesota’s season opener.
The same is true of fellow wide receiver Jalen Nailor, who is also nursing an ankle injury. He was listed as a full participant in Friday’s practice and given no game designation.
Both players are now officially active.
On Saturday, the Vikings elevated running back Myles Gaskin and defensive back Bobby McCain from their practice squad to the active roster. Both players were made eligible for the active game-day roster and will play.
Gaskin was a preseason standout for the Vikings, with a team-high 128 rushing yards on 27 carries. He also returned three kickoffs for 55 yards. Gaskin, who has 41 games of NFL experience and bounced between the Vikings practice squad and active roster in 2023, provides depth behind starting running back Aaron Jones and backup Ty Chandler.
He also gives the Vikings another option in the return game.
McCain, whom the Vikings signed this past July, has 131 games of experience. He played 10 games for the Giants last season.
Latest Vikings Injury Report News and Updates
Here is the Vikings’ final Week 1 injury report.
All players were listed as full participants, with the exception of cornerback Stephon Gilmore and safety Harrison Smith. The veterans were both given the day off on Friday, but both will play in today’s game at MetLife Stadium.
The only notable injury report issue for either team was the addition of edge rusher Brian Burns to the Giants’ injury report. Burns practiced in full all week but was listed on Friday’s report as a limited participant due to an ankle. He was also given no game designation, though, meaning he is expected to play.
