The San Fransisco 49ers are gearing up to face the Green Bay Packers this Sunday after a close but devastating 20-17 loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11.
While the 49ers were seen as serious Super Bowl contenders this season, head coach Kyle Shanahan’s team is currently sitting at a neutral record of 5-5 at the bottom of the NFC West.
The team’s mediocre record heading into Week 12 is widely blamed on their inability to close crucial games. However, former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin sent a strong motivational pep talk to the 49ers, advising them to lock in for the Packers showdown.
Michael Irvin Sends Motivational Message to the 49ers
The former Cowboys star sent a fierce message to the 49ers on the show “Speak,” in which he said, “Just coming up three points short in overtime of that Super Bowl 58, that kind of pain, that kind of disappointment, that kind of hurt. It must stay in us. It must stay with us. At the conclusion of that game, after watching confetti fall on our opponents…
“I know we have had many offseason distractions and in-season injuries to our top players, standing right here right now. At 5-5,we have .500 record, we are this close. The time is now. Each and every day, we must see, and it will be a must-win game.
“Must-win games bring about great pressure. When great pressure is applied to the good, it makes them fold. But when great pressure is applied to us, the great, it makes us focus. The time is now. We must focus in. We must lock in. We must recommit to everything we felt in that locker room that day.”

Unfortunately, the 49ers don’t have the greatest schedule on their side for the remainder of the season, making every game important for their playoff dreams.
The Brock Purdy-led team plays the Packers (7-3) in Week 12, followed by the Buffalo Bills (8-2) in Week 13, then they go head to head against the Chicago Bears (4-6) in Week 14, followed by the Los Angeles Rams (5-5) in Week 15, the Miami Dolphins (4-6) in Week 16, the Detroit Lions (9-1) in Week 17, and lastly the Arizona Cardinals (6-4) in Week 18.
