Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa’s Tattoos Are a Canvas for His Life Story

After five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is starting to hit his stride. Under head coach Mike McDaniel, the offense has blossomed and Tagovailoa has reached new statistical heights in his NFL career.

With his football career moving positively, so is his family. Since getting married in 2022, he and his wife, Annah, have welcomed two children to the world, Ace and Maisey, and the quarterback has found a way to honor them permanently. Let’s take a look at Tua’s tattoos.

Does Tua Tagovailoa Have Any Tattoos?

Does the Dolphins quarterback have any tattoos? When he was drafted in 2020, the answer would have been no. However, following the birth of his son Ace in 2022, Tagovailoa went home to Hawaii in the 2023 offseason.

While visiting, the Miami’s signal-caller got a shoulder-to-wrist tattoo sleeve in a Samoan-inspired style honoring his son and his culture. When he returned to training camp in July 2023, he showed off the new sleeve at a press conference, showing where his son’s name was inked.

Tagovailoa hosted a football camp in Hawaii during the 2024 offseason and appeared to be working on a similar sleeve for his throwing arm. Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead attended the camp and posted a picture of the work the quarterback had gotten done to his Instagram story.

However, the Samoan-style sleeve isn’t the only art Tagovailoa has on his body. While normally covered up by a wristband during games, the Dolphins quarterback also has a cross inked inside his left wrist. Tagovailoa is a devout Christian and has been outspoken about his faith throughout his career.

Some of the first words out of his mouth during his on-field interview after the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship win were, “First and foremost, I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With him, all things are possible.”

The decision to get a tattoo is usually not made very lightly, and it seems like Tua has chosen important things in his life to be represented via ink on his body.
