Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur had only known one starting quarterback during his first four years at the helm in Titletown. The organization’s decision to pivot from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love marked a humongous transition for the Packers franchise at large and the man overseeing their play.
LaFleur’s calm demeanor and belief in himself and his team led to a late-season surge that secured a playoff spot. That said, there’s another reason for his success — his better half. LaFleur’s wife has always been by his side through the highs and lows of his coaching career.
He’s been married to his wife, the former BreAnne Maak, since at least 2010 (though some sources say they were wed even earlier). The couple has been together for the entirety of his coaching tenure and also have two sons, Luke and Ty.
How Did Matt LaFleur and His Wife, BreAnne, Meet?
Born in 1983, BreAnne LaFleur is a Michigan native. She graduated from Marcellus High School and later earned a degree in physical therapy from Central Michigan University. Her journey alongside Matt began when they met as students at Central Michigan in 2004.
According to PackersNews.com, LaFleur and Maak’s first meeting wasn’t anything out of a romance novel. Instead, the undergrad Maak, then a student trainer, apparently found herself too close to one of LaFleur’s drills, prompting the coach to yell at her to get out of the way. He doesn’t recall this, but his better half maintains it happened to this day.
“She said I yelled at her the first time I talked to her,” Matt says, “because she was in the way of a drill, but I don’t think that ever happened.”
Shoddy first impressions aside, Maak caught LaFleur’s eye. He’d run into her a few times at the tanning salon she worked at, eventually working up the nerve to ask her out on a date.
The two eventually fell in love, dating for years before tying the knot in 2010. Over the years, BreAnne has been a constant presence in Matt’s life, giving up her career and relocating across the country to support his coaching career.
Talking to MLive.com in 2010 after moving from Houston to Washinton, BreAnne said: “There’s a lot of work to do,” she said. “I have a career where there aren’t a ton of jobs available. Hopefully I can find a position where I can transfer. Then we have to get a moving company. It’ll be one of the easier moves we’ve made since I won’t have to do everything.”

Matt and BreAnne’s life together has been a journey filled with numerous moves and professional growth. BreAnne, who once worked as a pharmaceutical representative in Ohio, left her job to support Matt’s coaching ambitions, starting with his role as a quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at Northern Michigan in 2006.

Consider this excerpt from Heavy.com as a testament to both LaFleur’s affection for his wife and for the impact she’s had on his life and even, inadvertently, his coaching career.
“I’m all about family. I love my family,” Matt LaFleur said, growing emotional, at his first press conference as Packers head coach. His wife, sons, and parents were in the audience. He called his wife “the true rock star in the family.”
