History of Philadelphia Eagles First-Round NFL Draft Picks All Time

The Philadelphia Eagles added five future Hall of Famers with their first-round NFL Draft picks between 1936 and 1964. How have they fared since then?

The Philadelphia Eagles‘ first-round picks in the NFL Draft helped the team navigate to a Super Bowl title in the modern NFL, but have they always been so proficient at converting on Round 1 capital? Here’s a look at Philadelphia’s full Round 1 history, dating all the way back to 1936, when the Eagles made their first-ever draft pick.

Philadelphia Eagles First-Round Draft Picks Throughout History

The Eagles started off hot in Round 1. They needed a couple of years to gear up, but eventually, Philadelphia selected five future Hall of Famers with their first-round picks between 1936 and 1964. Since 1964, however, when the Eagles took Bob Brown, the team hasn’t picked a future Hall of Famer in Round 1.

That said, there’s a possibility that this could change in the future, when some of the Eagles’ current standouts are retired. Fletcher Cox is a six-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro. He was also on the 2010s Hall of Fame team. And Lane Johnson, a two-time All-Pro, is revered as potentially the best right tackle in the game.
