The 49ers need to be commended for their construction of a dominant and powerful roster. They’ve assembled a roster that is so rich with talent on both sides of the ball that it’s difficult to pinpoint any specific weakness.
This well-rounded team-building approach has led to the 49ers being one of the league’s most difficult teams to face. It’s also led to their ability to win in a multitude of ways.
There are rosters that are constructed to win on the backs of a few key players or a specific aspect of the game. When those players get injured, or the run game — for example — doesn’t function the way it’s supposed to, those rosters sputter, and they’re unable to overcome.
San Francisco doesn’t have that issue, and they’ve now rolled over their last 12 opponents as a result. In the Divisional Round against Dallas, the 49ers were able to rely on their defense and run game. They’ll now advance to their second straight appearance in the NFC Championship Game.
While the 49ers will hope for a different result this year in the NFC Championship, they’ll find themselves matched up against arguably the only other team in the conference that is as well-balanced as they are.

For everything that San Francisco can do offensively and defensively, Philadelphia is able to match that with an incredibly constructed roster that features very few holes. It’s going to be tough sledding to find the advantages for each team in this one, and execution is going to be the key to advancing to Super Bowl LVII.

As for the Eagles, they showed no signs of rust after their bye week as they demolished their division rivals, the New York Giants, in the Divisional Round with a final score of 38-7. The talent discrepancy between the Giants and the Eagles was the key factor, and New York didn’t stand much of a chance.
It’s difficult to picture a defense slowing this Philadelphia offense down, but San Francisco has the pieces in place to make that happen. The 49ers suffocated opposing run games throughout the season, and they just held Dak Prescott to a QB rating of 63.6.
This game is equal on paper, with the talent levels of both teams taken into account. It simply then comes down to which team can take care of the football and who wants it more.
