Eagles starting right tackle Lane Johnson left Sunday’s game against the Saints. Here is the latest on Philadelphia’s All-Pro offensive tackle.

Philadelphia Eagles starting right tackle Lane Johnson exited Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Johnson was reportedly vomiting on the sideline and walked slowly to Philadelphia’s locker room late in the second quarter.

According to the Eagles, Johnson was ruled out for the remainder of the game due to a concussion. He was replaced at right tackle by reserve offensive lineman Fred Johnson.

While Philadelphia’s offense has struggled without the former All-Pro in the past, they were surprisingly able to move the ball without Johnson on Sunday.

Johnson isn’t the only Eagles player that exited the game in New Orleans. Philadelphia lost several starters throughout Week 3’s matchup due to injuries.

    What Happened to Lane Johnson

The Eagles were unable to score in the first half, despite being able to move the ball well without Johnson. In 33 games without Johnson, the Eagles have an overall record of just 11-22.

Johnson was officially ruled out due to a concussion following halftime. Despite Johnson’s absence, the Eagles were able to put up 460 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Fred Johnson stepped up admirably in place of the four-time All-Pro, allowing Hurts to find holes in New Orleans’ defense. While his absence was historically a thorn in Philadelphia’s side, the Eagles were able to survive without him in Week 3.

If Johnson is forced to miss an extended period of time, Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland proved that he has a solid plan in place. While a concussion is normally a short-term injury, Johnson’s history is noteworthy.

This isn’t Johnson’s first concussion, as he was most recently in concussion protocol in 2022. Johnson suffered a concussion against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6 that season and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Given Johnson’s concussion history, it’ll be interesting to see when he returns to action for the Eagles. He didn’t return in Week 3 and his status moving forward will depend on his response ahead of Philadelphia’s matchup in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
