With the No. 33 overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills drafted wide receiver Keon Coleman. Here’s everything you need to know about Coleman’s game, physical attributes, and journey to the NFL.
How Tall Is Keon Coleman?
At the NFL Combine, Coleman measured in at 6’3 1/4″, which puts him at the 79th percentile among wide receiver prospects. His arm length (32 1/8”) is only in the 54th percentile, but Coleman’s size allows him to play on the outside at the NFL level.
How Much Does Coleman Weigh?
Coleman weighs 213 pounds, which puts him in the 78th percentile at his position. Coleman’s weight is well distributed, as he’s pretty jacked. Coleman uses his ideal size to his advantage, as evidenced by his play strength in his game film.
How Old Is Coleman?
Coleman was born on May 17, 2003, making him 21 years old. He’s one of the younger players in the 2024 NFL rookie class, meaning he should have quite a bit of untapped potential, unlike some of the older rookies.
What School Did Coleman Go To?
In high school, Coleman attended Opelousas Catholic School, where he played football and basketball.
Initially, Coleman committed to Michigan State to continue playing both sports. As a freshman with the Spartans, he did just that — playing forward for Tom Izzo’s squad in addition to playing wide receiver.
In 2023, Coleman transferred to Florida State to play in Mike Norvell’s offense, and he became a focal point of the Seminoles’ passing attack.
Revisiting Coleman’s College Career
Coleman didn’t make much of an impact as a true freshman at East Lansing, catching just seven passes for 50 yards and one score during his first collegiate season.
However, he made a significant jump in his sophomore season at Michigan State, producing 58 receptions for 798 yards and seven scores — impressive for a true sophomore who was moonlighting as a D-I basketball player a year prior and competing for targets with an NFL-caliber talent in Jayden Reed.
Before his final collegiate season, Coleman transferred to FSU and quickly became one of Jordan Travis’ favorite targets in 2023, catching 50 passes for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Seminoles.
Outside of his touchdown production, Coleman’s numbers last year weren’t among the elite at the position. Still, he played a significant role in FSU’s passing game on their way to an undefeated regular season.
After the season, Coleman decided to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Coleman’s 40-Yard Dash
At the NFL Combine, Coleman ran a 4.61-second 40-yard dash — the slowest among wide receivers in this draft class. Prior to this 40 time, Coleman was being discussed as a projected first-round pick, so this certainly seemed to hurt his draft stock.
However, Coleman’s game speed is faster than his testing speed, as evidenced by the fact that he reached 20.36 miles per hour during the NFL Combine’s gauntlet drill, the fastest speed among all WRs.
Coleman’s 40 time didn’t scare off the Bills, who were happy to select Coleman early in the second round.
