Despite a dismal win-loss record and up-and-down statistical results through much of his career, former Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields was still viewed by many as a franchise quarterback before his unceremonious send-off to the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Fields is no longer in the Windy City, but he’s still looking for every opportunity to reshape his career trajectory to join the ranks of quarterbacks cashing in on big-money deals.
What Is Justin Fields’ Salary?
Fields was selected 11th overall in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. That draft slot, as with other players selected in a similar range, afforded him a fully guaranteed contract to the tune of nearly $18.9 million across four years, according to Spotrac. The deal included a signing bonus worth just over $11 million.
His total career earnings to this point amount to over $15.6 million. In 2024, Fields is set to earn just over $3.2 million.
Every first-round pick’s contract contains a fifth-year team option, meaning that, before a player’s fourth season, their team has the choice of extending their contract for an additional year at a much higher salary.
During the 2024 NFL offseason, Pittsburgh declined to do so with Fields, meaning he’ll be a free agent at the end of the season and will look to cash in, potentially with a new team.
This means that every snap Fields takes this season will be under heightened scrutiny and pressure.
While the former Ohio State star is likely more than one promising season away from top-of-the-market money, the level of wealth on the line for Fields was on stark display during the 2024 offseason.

Tua Tagovailoa, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, and Jared Goff all signed contract extensions worth over $50 million per year — nearly triple the value of Fields’ entire rookie contract.
Fields will need to overtake Russell Wilson for the starting job and play exceptionally good football to command similar market value next offseason. More likely, and at a bare minimum, he’ll attempt to show he deserves to be the unquestioned starter for a team heading into 2025.
What Is Fields’ Net Worth and Career Earnings?
Of course, Fields’ net worth cannot be solely encapsulated by the contracts he’s earned as a player. The quarterback has worked with several companies on endorsement deals, though numbers on such deals are often not as publicly available as numbers on player contracts. One of the most notable of Fields’ endorsement deals was with shoe and athletic-wear brand Reebok.
Ahead of the 2023 season, Fields announced his partnership with the company, saying in a news release from Reebok, “Reebok holds an incredible legacy in the sports world that has always inspired me … Not only have they launched iconic offerings with legends like Allen Iverson and Shaq that shaped sports culture in the ’90s, but they also have the attitude and energy to reshape the future of sport once again.
“I’m excited to join Reebok and help kick off this next great chapter.”
