It’s a reunion for Smith-Schuster, who caught 78 balls for 933 yards and three touchdowns in 2022 while playing for the Chiefs, who won the Super Bowl. Smith-Schuster was added on the eve of roster cutdown day, seemingly indicating he’ll have a spot on the Chiefs’ initial 53-man roster.

The Patriots signed Smith-Schuster during the 2023 offseason and hoped he would be a higher-upside replacement for Jakobi Meyers, who joined the Las Vegas Raiders. But lingering knee issues limited Smith-Schuster to just 29 catches for 260 yards and one touchdown in 11 games last season.
Whether Smith-Schuster has anything left in the tank remains to be seen. But if there’s one thing that can resurrect his career, it’s catching passes from Patrick Mahomes.
