Josh Allen Facing Backlash for ‘Mahomes-Like’ Antics in Bills’ Playoff Victory Over Ravens

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is under fire for complaining to the refs as he gets compared to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. It’s not unusual to see players clamor for a call, but did Allen cross a line? And who will campaign for calls harder next week in the AFC Championship Game between Allen and Mahomes?

Bills QB Josh Allen Slammed for Complaining to the Refs

Despite the victory, Allen has received a lot of backlash due to his complaining to the referees throughout the game.

That said, one play in particular stood out as he was very emphatic about wanting the call. This was as a defender slammed Dawson Knox in the backfield following the blow of the whistle, though it was a continuation of the tackle.

Fans were very critical of Allen in the replies to this tweet, even comparing him to Mahomes, who was called out for “flopping” in his victory over the Houston Texans.

“‘Touching the quarterback, defense, any of ’em. 50 yards. Automatic touchdown and two point conversion.’ Who does he think he is? Patrick Mahomes?!?,” said one fan.

Another fan also added that Allen is “turning into Mahomes, but in a negative way.”

Though both quarterbacks won, they each ended up receiving criticism for similar antics. That said, they’ll get to battle it out in the AFC Championship to see which quarterback can take the conference title.

Patrick Mahomes Receives Major Social Media Backlash for ‘Flopping’ in Chiefs’ Victory

Though the Chiefs handled business at home, taking down the Texans 23-14 en route to their seventh straight AFC Championship Game, Mahomes has received a ton of backlash on social media for his antics during the game.

While many fans complained about the poor officiating in the game, they were also frustrated by Mahomes “flopping” to get these calls. One incident was worse than the rest, as he exaggerated a push out of bounds to get an unnecessary roughness call.

One fan dubbed it a “Ridiculous attempt at a flop after getting SEVERAL questionable roughing calls already this game. This is the reason people outside of KC (Kansas City) don’t like Mahomes.”

Another fan also called this attempt ridiculous, saying, “What a ridiculous flop attempt by Mahomes, this is embarrassing.”

One fan even called this attempt “one of the worst flops you will ever see. This is absurd.”

Hopefully, the league will begin addressing this issue in the offseason, as this simply cannot go on any longer. It’s one thing when a few people notice it, but when it’s virtually the entire NFL fan base, it has to be taken seriously.
