Joe Flacco’s Hilarious Postgame Interview Goes Viral After Joke About Anthony Richardson’s Mom

The Indianapolis Colts eked out a victory with backup QB Joe Flacco playing most of the game -- his postgame commentary was pure gold.

Football fans haven’t had the exquisite pleasure of watching QB Joe Flacco on the field since his postseason performance last season with the Cleveland Browns. Anthony Richardson started off 3-of-4 for 71 yards but succumbed to a hip injury, thrusting the 39-year-old veteran into action.

While the two touchdowns and sound decision-making highlighted his on-the-field performance, the real delight may have come off-the-field in his interview after the game.

What in the World Did Joe Flacco Say?

The Indianapolis Colts escaped with a home victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-24. Reflecting after the game with Aditi Kinkhabwala, she mentioned to Flacco that Richardson “said you were cooler than he thought.”

To which Flacco wittily replied, “His mom is eight days older than I am, so there’s no chance in the world he thinks I’m cool.”

As a member of the salt-and-pepper hair club, I can appreciate the self-deprecation. And yes, social media immediately deduced that Flacco and Richardson’s mom must be in a secret relationship with each other because of the proximity in age. Oh, Twitter.

Richardson is cautious but encouraged for next week. He does not believe the hip injury is serious but could not accelerate after he tweaked it in Week 3.

The Colts take on the divisional rival Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5. The Jaguars are reeling, bottoming to 0-4 after a narrow defeat to the Houston Texans in Week 4. Will Jacksonville be playing with desperation or apathy?

Flacco engineered 20 of the 27 points in the Week 4 contest vs. the Steelers. Josh Downs and Drew Ogletree caught touchdown passes, while Matt Gay booted two field goals. The offense started at a blistering pace, but the Steelers’ second-half adjustments slowed them down.

If Richardson is out of practice, those reps will be helpful for Flacco and Co. to get more consistent timing.

At any rate, Flacco might have to rub some Ben-Gay on those knees and get ready for another week of action. And please put a microphone in front of him after the game.
