‘Aaron Rodgers Is Pissed at Him’ – Jets Fans React to Garrett Wilson’s Performance in Loss vs. Rams Amid Trade Rumors

    Published on

The disappointing 2024 season continues for the New York Jets, and wide receiver Garrett Wilson is in the crosshairs of trade rumors.

Garrett Wilson and the New York Jets suffered their 11th loss of the season in Week 16. They lost 19-9 to the Los Angeles Rams as New York failed to build on last week’s win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Recently, reports emerged about Wilson potentially asking for a trade from the Jets after the season. The star wide receiver was not involved much during most of the game against the Rams, which further sparked discussion around his exit from the AFC East team on social media.

New York Jets Fans Speculate on Garrett Wilson’s Future

Here’s how the fans reacted to Wilson’s lack of involvement in the Jets’ offense to start the game against the Rams in Week 16:

“He sat down in double coverage during the Rodgers fumble… like he’s not even trying anymore- seems checked out,” said one fan about Wilson.

“Rodgers is a total embarrassment forcing it to 17 every play. Jets are a 10-win team currently if Rodgers learns how to throw to Wilson,” said another fan.

Wilson got a decent amount of touches later in the game as he finished with six receptions for 54 yards on six targets. The 24-year-old wideout was asked about his stance on the situation, and his response didn’t help in playing down the rumors of him asking to get traded.

Per Jets videos on X, Wilson said, “I would love to be involved, love to make an impact on the game, but if people see it differently, then that’s out of my control. Just try and do what I can do.”

Based on his postgame comments, the fans were convinced that the Jets further damaged their relationship with Wilson.

“What an epic fail by the Jets. Best player you drafted in years, and you’re pushing him out,” said a fan after Wilson’s comments.

Another fan added, “I hope this dude demands a trade in the offseason.”

Wilson has 90 catches for 987 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games this season. His stats across the board are identical to his first two seasons in the league.

However, it is not a good sign as Rodgers has failed in elevating him to the next level, and the team’s decision to acquire Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders has contributed to that.

Davante Adams Has Once Again Become Aaron Rodgers’ Preferred Target

Adams didn’t play well after arriving in New York but has been phenomenal in the last few games. His connection with Rodgers has been special, but it has come at the cost of Wilson’s involvement.

In the last five games, Adams has averaged 7.2 receptions for 102.6 yards per game and has scored five touchdowns, averaging 11.0 targets per game. In comparison, Wilson, in this span, averaged 5.0 receptions for 56.6 yards per game and has just one touchdown on 8.2 targets per game.

Wilson will be eligible for a contract extension after this season, and although the Jets could offer him the money he desires, the Ohio State product could want to leave the team to find himself in a winning situation.

The Jets drafted Wilson with the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Since making his debut, he has been their best player on offense, and trading the star wideout will not go well with the fans. Nobody knows what the future holds for him, but if Rodgers and Adams stay on the roster next year, the chances of Wilson forcing his way out are higher.
