Should I Draft Jaylen Wright? Fantasy Outlook for the Dolphins’ RB in 2024

Miami Dolphins RB Jaylen Wright is part of loaded depth chart which could limit his fantasy value despite his explosive playmaking ability.

The electric Jaylen Wright joined the Miami Dolphins after getting drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, but his fantasy football outlook in 2024 is a bit murky with De’Von Achane and Raheem Moster also on the depth chart.

Below, I’ll examine the rookie’s fantasy football outlook and see if he’s worth picking in your fantasy league.

Jaylen Wright’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season

Wright is getting drafted as the RB49 in PPR leagues, which could make him a fantastic prospect for the ZeroRB fantasy football strategy.

Unfortunately, he has two fantastic running backs in front of him: Mostert and Achane.

According to TruMedia, Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry on 103 tries. He had eight rushing touchdowns. Alongside him was Mostert, who averaged 4.8 yards per carry on 209 tries and had 18 rushing scores while catching three more.

So, in all, Wright has a hyper-efficient dynamic running back entering his second season and a player who scored 21 touchdowns a season ago.

    A tall hall to climb.

In 2023 with the Tennessee Volunteers, Wright had 136 carries for 1,010 yards and four scores. He also caught 22 passes for 141 yards.

In Week 1 of the preseason, Wright had 10 carries for 55 yards and a score.

Wright does have a path to meaningful carries, though. Mostert played in 15 games in 2023, and Achane played in 11.

In a situation where all three are healthy, Wright will be relegated to the back of the line. But with two running backs ahead of him who missed some time a year ago, he’ll get a chance to at least become a solid Flex play.

The Dolphins have a Week 6 bye week.

Is Wright a Good Fantasy Pick?

The situation is not great at all, but I know I want Wright on my team. At RB49 and No. 165 overall, he has last-round potential.

Wright is a fantastic prospect, and as an Achane owner in 2023, I know how it felt to have him miss time.

Mostert is also into his 30s now, and going for 21 touchdowns again is highly unlikely.

Wright will be fantastic when he can play; it’s just a matter of when. If he was a free agent in your league, he could potentially warrant a massive FAAB bid.

You’ll have to be extremely patient with Wright, but he’ll be productive when he’s on the field.
