The 2024 NFL Draft is loaded with wide receiver talent from top to bottom, including Washington’s Ja’Lynn Polk. Before he gets drafted, let’s dive into Polk’s background and upbringing.
A Look At Ja’Lynn Polk’s Parents
Polk was born on April 11, 2002, to his parents, Leonard Polk and Jennifer Fredieu. He was born and raised in Lufkin, Texas, where he attended Lufkin High School before committing to Texas Tech University. Polk eventually transferred to Washington after one year at Texas Tech.
There isn’t much publicly known information about Leonard, and Ja’Lynn hasn’t publicly spoken about his father.
Polk has a strong relationship with his mother, Jennifer. The wideout has previously shared that her good, hard-working nature motivated him to become who he is today, as he seeks to follow her example.
“For me growing up, with the things we had to go through, to see how strong of a woman she is and how hard of a worker she is, it motivates me a lot,” Polk said to the Seattle Times of his mother back when he transferred to Washington.

“I’ve seen her work so hard, have three jobs, coming home and then going back to work, just doing everything she can in order for me and my little sister to have what we have today and what we needed,” said Polk. “For her to do everything she can to provide for us all of our lives, it drives me a lot, because I want her to not have to work so hard one day.”
As a result of his relationship with his mother, his goal is to work so she doesn’t have to. “Since he was in high school, he said, ‘I’m going to go to the NFL. I’m going to take care of my momma.’ He wants to buy his mom a house,” said Polk’s former 7-on-7 coach, Victor Machado, to the Seattle Times.
