Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles eviscerated an injury-depleted Dallas Cowboys team in Week 10. That gave the Eagles quarterback and some other starters some time off prior to the team’s Week 11 Thursday night game vs. the Washington Commanders.

Why Jalen Hurts Didn’t Finish the Game in Week 10

The Eagles inserted backup quarterback Kenny Pickett with 12:42 remaining in the fourth quarter while holding a 31-6 lead.

The Eagles took over first place in the NFC East from the Washington Commanders, who lost earlier in the day to the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, that division lead could be short-lived if Philly doesn’t take care of business at home on Thursday against the Commanders.

Hurts was solid again, going 14-of-20 for 202 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He added a pair of rushing touchdowns as well, including the 50th of his career to open the scoring. Hurts joined Cam Newton and Josh Allen as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to reach that threshold.

Hurts has eight passing and eight rushing touchdowns over the last four games, re-establishing his status as one of the best dual-threat QBs in the game after a rough end to 2023.

The Eagles quarterback will need the rest with first place in the division on the line in just four days.

Backup Kenny Pickett finished the game. Pickett, a former first-round pick of the Steelers in 2022, arrived via an offseason trade to Philly.

He had appeared in one game and thrown one pass for the Eagles prior to Sunday.
