Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson was a full participant in practice during the week despite being listed on the injury report with an illness. However, he suffered a concussion against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football, as the Cowboys attempted to stay alive in the NFC playoff race.
Here’s the latest on Ferguson’s status against the Texans in Week 11.
What Happened to Jake Ferguson?
Following Dallas’ second offensive possession of the game, Ferguson was evaluated for a concussion on the Cowboys’ sideline. Earlier in the drive, Ferguson hauled in his first and only catch of the night for an 11-yard gain.
Dallas’ second offensive possession ended prematurely, as Cooper Rush threw an interception following a miscommunication with star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
Texans safety Jimmie Ward didn’t mean to, but he did a good job jamming CeeDee Lamb at the five-yard mark on that Derek Stingley Jr. interception.

After entering concussion protocol and being evaluated on Dallas’ sideline, Ferguson was officially ruled out for the remainder of the game, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.
Fantasy Impact of Ferguson’s Injury
Finding fantasy football production in this Dallas passing game has been an uphill battle outside of Lamb, and this doesn’t make things any easier.
Jalen Tolbert should see more looks as a result of this injury but not enough to give him Flex appeal. In theory, Dallas could commit to the run and up the volume of Rico Dowdle, but that’s only as good a plan as the game script allows.
KaVontae Turpin took a slant the distance shortly after Ferguson’s status was reported. He carries big-play potential, but given that we’ve yet to see him earn targets in volume, there’s no need to overreact for an asset in this Rush-led offense.
All in all, there’s not a move worth making due to this injury — the less exposure to this offense the better.
