The Jacksonville Jaguars‘ 2024 season isn’t off to a great start with the team standing at 0-2. However, while there are some negatives, a strong suit of the team is their quarterback room. Led by Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars have what they believe is their answer at the most important position in the sport.

However, they don’t have just Lawrence. What does their QB depth chart look like?

Who Fills Out the Jaguars’ QB Depth Chart?

At the top of the list is Lawrence, who the Jaguars took No. 1 in the 2021 NFL Draft. Since being drafted, he’s had his fair share of ups and downs. Under Urban Meyer as a rookie, Lawrence struggled and threw for just 3,641 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions.

However, when the team hired Doug Pederson, things turned around. In 2022, he had a massive jump up to 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2022.

Following his jump in production, many thought Lawrence would take his game to an even higher level in 2023. However, that did not happen. In the end, he threw for just 4,016 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.

It wasn’t all his fault, though. On top of a series of injuries that hampered his ability late in the year, the Jaguars’ suffered from a lot of dropped passes or failed catches by the team’s wide receivers. As a result, going into 2024, the team added two new receivers including first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr.

Ahead of the 2024 season, the Jaguars signed Lawrence to a five-year, $275 million contract extension. He got a $37.5 million signing bonus and $142 million fully guaranteed.

Behind Lawrence is a new addition to the roster in 2024. Mac Jones, who was also a first-round pick in 2021, is the team’s primary backup after the team sent a sixth-round pick for him in a trade with the New England Patriots.

Jones’ career has been very different from Lawrence’s. While Lawrence started slow and heated up, Jones was the opposite, starting fast and slowing down. As a rookie, Jones threw for 3,801 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He was named to the Pro Bowl and led the Patriots to the playoffs.

Despite the early success, Jones followed up his strong rookie season with 2,997 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions as a second-year player. In 2023, it got worse, throwing for just 2,120 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He was benched ultimately, signaling the end of his Patriots career.

After those two, the Jaguars do not have another quarterback on the active roster. Undrafted rookie quarterback John Rhys Plumlee was signed to the practice squad, however, after participating in training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Spending his college career at Ole Miss and UCF, Plumlee was a multi-sport athlete. In his first three years with Ole Miss, he didn’t receive much playing time, totaling 981 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. He did, however, rush for 1,189 yards and 12 more touchdowns.

At UCF, though, Plumlee got the chance to start. In two years, he threw for for 4,857 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He also ran the ball 265 times for 1,367 yards and 16 touchdowns.
