Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins got off to a hot start against his former team on Monday Night Football. Dobbins had six carries for 40 yards in the first half against the Baltimore Ravens. However, he left Los Angeles’ sideline and walked to the locker room alongside a trainer ahead of halftime.
Here’s the latest on Dobbins’ status in Week 12 against his former team.
What Happened to J.K. Dobbins?
Following an injury-riddled tenure with the Ravens, Dobbins was eager to prove his worth with a strong performance against his former team. Dobbins got off to a strong start in Week 12, as he had nine total touches for 59 yards in the first half.
However, Dobbins exited the sideline with a trainer and walked to Los Angeles’ locker room late in the first half. Injury analyst Tom Christ offered his thoughts on Dobbins’ injury on X (formerly known as Twitter), as he believes the Chargers’ starting running back could be dealing with an MCL injury.

Injured his knee on this play. A valgus moment at the knee as the defender below him essentially creates a fulcrum at Dobbins knee, which would put stress on the MCL. Sounds like it’s not too bad, and there’s not a ton of excessive motion. pic.twitter.com/gxb84ODeVI

As reported via the Chargers’ X account, Dobbins was downgraded to out due to a left knee injury. We’ll continue to monitor Dobbins’ status as the Chargers shift their focus to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13.
Fantasy Impact of Dobbins’ Injury
It’s unclear how serious Dobbins’ injury is. If he does have to miss time, the Chargers recently got Gus Edwards back from injured reserve. He would serve as the lead runner and likely goal-line back. However, do not expect him to play much on third downs.
That role might go to Hassan Haskins or, more likely, Kimani Vidal if this is an extended absence. Edwards would not be nearly as fantasy football-relevant as Dobbins and could be a serviceable RB3 for the needy.
