    After a sensational preseason performance, former Oregon star Bo Nix will start at quarterback for the Denver Broncos in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.

    Many players dream of starting in Week 1 of their rookie year. However, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft gets to live it, as he is not only starting as the team’s quarterback but will also grace the field as the Broncos’ captain.

    This news surprised many fans as the Broncos named a rookie its captain for the first time since 1967. Nix’s wife, Izzy Smoke, meanwhile, beamed with pride.

    While the announcement made 57-year history, Nix’s abilities are well vouched for, be it his former head coach Dan Lanning admitting that Nix was more than a player on the team or his wife Izzy Nix hyping him up at every achievement.

    Izzy took to Instagram to celebrate her husband as he secures another feather to his cap. She reposted ESPN NFL’s post and captioned the story, “Just so proud of him.”

    This isn’t the first time the former Oregon quarterback’s wife has cheered him on as he achieves milestone after milestone.

    When the Broncos drafted Nix, Izzy penned a heartfelt note on Instagram and recalled how he had told her about his “god-sized dream.” She admitted that she would never “stop praising the Lord for his faithfulness or have words to express how proud I am.”

    The post included various snaps from the 2024 NFL Draft weekend. In the first picture, the couple is captured posing with Nix’s new jersey, while another one was taken in the Broncos’ training facility.

    Izzy concluded the post by confessing that they are “overjoyed and honored to join Broncos country!!! and said, “We’ve always loved orange and blue.”
