Kansas City Chiefs sophomore wide receiver Rashee Rice has emerged as one of Patrick Mahomes’ favorite targets over the last year. Rice was drafted in the second round (No. 55 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft, and it didn’t take him long to make his presence felt in Kansas City’s offense.
Is There a Relation Between Rashee Rice and Jerry Rice?
Any star wide receiver with the last name Rice is going to be asked the same question: “Are you related to NFL legend Jerry Rice?!”
While it’s understandable to assume, Rashee and Jerry are not related. With that said, Jerry does a son in the NFL. Brendan Rice was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the seventh round (No. 225 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft.
While Rashee isn’t related to Jerry, he’s certainly making a name for himself. He won a Super Bowl as a rookie with the Chiefs, and he finished his first NFL campaign with 79 catches, 938 yards, and seven touchdowns.
In the postseason, Rice continued to play well, totaling 26 receptions, 262 yards, and a touchdown. In his NFL playoff debut, Rice dominated the Miami Dolphins to the tune of eight catches for 130 yards, and a touchdown.
More importantly, he continued to develop a rapport with Patrick Mahomes.
If it weren’t for the crazy season by Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, more people would have talked about Rice’s impressive rookie campaign.
