On the latest episode of Pro Football Network’s In The Mood for Fantasy Football Podcast, in addition to the latest NFL news, we discussed players you should consider buying low on, players to sell high, and who to prioritize on the waiver wire ahead of Week 2.
Fantasy Football News: Buy low, sell high
PFN’s Fantasy Football Analyst Tommy Garrett and I had a riveting discussion around how to capitalize on buy-low and sell-high opportunities after an exhilarating Week 1. I discussed in great detail six players in my weekly column. Moreover, how you should also consider trading away Brandin Cooks.
Will this be Cooks’ best performance of the 2021 season?
Cook is one of five active receivers to exceed 1,000 receiving yards in at least five seasons since 2015. The 2021 season got off to an excellent start for the veteran receiver. Cooks caught 5 of 7 targets for 132 receiving yards against an overwhelmed Jacksonville secondary in Week 1. As expected, he operated as quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s No. 1 target. But the Texans won’t face the Jaguars every week, and now is a good time to consider trading Cooks away.
Working the waiver wire
49ers running back Elijah Mitchell is viewed as the top waiver wire option heading into Week 2. The rookie rushed 19 times for 104 yards and a touchdown against the Lions. One other player Tommy and I are excited about is Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick.
Patrick played 70% of the Broncos’ offensive snaps in Week 1 against the Giants. He caught all 4 of his targets for 39 yards and a touchdown. At 6’4″ and 212 pounds, Patrick is a big target for Broncos starting QB Teddy Bridgewater.
Bringing it all together
This is a taste of what Tommy and I hashed out in the latest episode of In The Mood for Fantasy Football, a Pro Football Network podcast that keeps you up to date on the latest NFL news and how to adjust your lineups weekly with start/sit, waiver wire, and draft advice.
