‘I Wish I Still Had Those Powers’ – NFL Legend Rob Gronkowski Shuts Down Return Rumors

FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz recently talked with NFL legend Rob Gronkowski amid rumors of his return to the league. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Schultz detailed how Gronk confirmed to him that the rumors were false and he was, in fact, not returning to the National Football League next season.

Earlier in the week, reports began emerging that Gronkowski was seriously considering coming out of retirement and making a return to an NFL franchise. While the reports were not in-depth and did not mention many details, football fans began debating where the best landing spot would be for Gronk.

However, Schultz’s recent conversation with him hints that this situation may not progress to anything more than a rumor in the future.

    Rob Gronkowski NFL Return Statement

Schultz made clear that he had interviewed Gronk and asked him about his future in the NFL.

“I asked Rob Gronkowski about his so-called NFL comeback. Here’s what Gronk had to say: ‘Crazy, bro. They must know something about me that I don’t. I wish I still had those powers, because that would be cool if I did. But I was just in Australia for a few days. Now it’s time to relax a little. No football,’” the post stated.

    Rob Gronkowski’s Legendary NFL Career

While some fans unquestionably want to see Gronk return to the NFL, it is uncertain how productive he would be at 36 years old when the season begins, having also not played in the league since the 2021 campaign.

Gronkowski is widely regarded as one of the greatest tight ends in National Football League history. He played for both the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning a Super Bowl with both teams.

Gronk played most of his career with legendary QB Tom Brady and is a four-time Super Bowl champion, four-time NFL first-team All-Pro, and was a member of the 2010s All-Decade Team and 100th Anniversary All-Time Team.

Among tight ends in NFL history, Gronk ranks No. 6 all-time in receiving yards (9,286), No. 3 in receiving yards per game (64.9), and No. 3 in receiving touchdowns (92), according to StatMuse.

Although anything can happen in the NFL, it appears as though Gronkowski’s career stats will remain the same moving forward after he detailed that his playing days are firmly behind him, despite the recent social media rumors.
