FOXBORO, Mass. — Hunter Henry is dealing with an ankle injury, but all signs point toward the New England Patriots tight end suiting up for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Henry appeared to suffer an ankle injury during last Thursday’s loss to the New York Jets. The veteran tight end then missed Monday’s practice before being listed as a limited participant for Wednesday’s session.
Let’s get into what we saw from Henry during Thursday’s practice.
What’s the Latest Hunter Henry Injury Update?
Henry was on the field and participating during the media-access portion of practice. That doesn’t mean he won’t be listed as limited on the injury report, but it indicates his ankle injury isn’t serious.
Here’s a video of Henry running through drills early in practice:

Henry was the Patriots’ most productive pass catcher over the first three weeks, especially in Week 2 when he caught eight balls for 109 yards in an overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
If Henry were to miss time, veteran tight end Austin Hooper likely would see an uptick in targets. Rookie Jaheim Bell also could see increased playing time.
We’ll learn more about Henry’s status as the week progresses, but he appears on track to play in San Francisco.
Assorted Notes From Patriots Practice
- Cornerback Alex Austin was the only player absent during practice. He also sat out Monday and Wednesday due to an ankle injury and appears unlikely to play on Sunday.
- Tackle Vederian Lowe and guard Michael Jordan both appeared limited for the third consecutive practice. Both were listed as non-participants on Wednesday.
