What to expect from the USFL player selection meeting
Seeing as it’s been over three decades since any of these franchises have fielded a team, all eight will start with a blank roster, filling it out throughout 35 rounds. The Michigan Panthers received the first overall pick in the USFL’s Draft Lottery.
A modified snake method will be used for the draft. The snake method will be analytically modified to give all eight teams two No. 1 picks in at least two position groups.
The 2022 USFL Draft will be split up into positional chunks, each representing a specific position to draft from. The franchises must select at least one player from every positional group. However, in multi-round chunks, they have the option to defer their pick into a compensatory pick to be used at the end of any remaining round.
Nevertheless, teams will not be permitted trade picks or players amongst themselves. Given that this is the formation of a brand new league, there will be many differences between the traditional NFL Draft format and the USFL’s player selection meeting.
