The Cowboys come into this game after an impressive win in Week 1 against the Browns. Led by quarterback Dak Prescott, the Cowboys are looking to build on their momentum as their defense looked elite against Deshaun Watson and company.

Prescott threw multiple TD passes to close last season (playoffs included) but opened this year failing to do so against the Browns. He began the 2023 season failing to throw multiple scores in five of six games before eventually finding his form.

On defense, the Cowboys’ pass rush, featuring Micah Parsons, will look to disrupt the Saints’ game plan. The Cowboys ranked 24th in defensive success rate a season ago (57.8%) but trailed only the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1 (74.4%). With a new defensive coordinator in place and new pieces up and down the roster, there is optimism that the unit will remain just as efficient as last year.

The Saints head into Dallas looking to go back-to-back after they dismantled the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Since the start of 2021, Derek Carr has a winning record (10-9) in regular season games as an underdog. The Cowboys are favored by nearly a touchdown in this one.

Ultimately, although both these teams put up more than 30 points last week, there is a good chance this will come down to defense. The Saints allowed the Panthers to pick up just 10% of their third downs. That matched their second-lowest rate allowed since 2021 (seven of their top eight third-down defense games have come at home over that stretch).
