How Many Kids Does Matthew Stafford Have? Looking Closely at Rams QB’s Family Tree

Matthew Stafford has enjoyed new NFL stardom since his 2021 trade to L.A., which includes his family being in the spotlight. How many kids does the QB have?

    Published on

Matthew Stafford has experienced plenty of highs and lows in his NFL career, from experiencing first-round playoff heartbreak to winning a Super Bowl.

But while the football world knows the Los Angeles Rams quarterback for his impressive arm strength, his family life has also come into the limelight in recent years. Here’s a closer look at the children he shares with his wife, Kelly.

    Who Are Matthew Stafford’s Children?

    Sawyer Stafford

Sawyer represents one of the twin children Matthew and his wife share.

She was born in 2017 in the Detroit area. She stayed in the Motor City during the final four seasons of Stafford’s stay with the Detroit Lions.

    Chandler Stafford

Chandler is the other twin, sharing the title of oldest Stafford child.

It’s not known which twin girl is older by minutes or seconds. But like Sawyer, Chandler has roots in Detroit.

    Hunter Hope Stafford

Hunter Hope becomes the second-oldest child in the Stafford household.

She was born a year after her twin sisters in 2018. At 5 years old, she watched her father play in his most recent NFL game in their former home of Detroit during the playoffs.

    Tyler Hall Stafford

Tyler holds the title of youngest Stafford child.

She was born in 2020. Ironically, her birth was before her father’s final season with the Lions. Tyler was also a July ’20 baby — meaning she was born four months into the COVID-19 pandemic.

Were Daughters Jeered During Last Rams Game?

While Matthew drew lots of cheers from Lions fans before the blockbuster Jan. 2021 trade to the Rams that swapped him with Jared Goff, the children didn’t have the best experience inside Ford Field.

Kelly claimed on her “The Morning After” podcast that Lions fans were heard booing her children on the sideline — even describing how Hunter was driven to tears hearing the jeers.

While Kelly didn’t want to cast blame on the entire fan base, she still spoke loud and clear about the treatment her daughters endured.

“And listen, this is not everybody. This is the fans that are the loudest,” she said. “But I will say one thing — we’re not playing the game. My girls and I are not playing the game. I know my girls are not getting booed. I am, and I can handle it. But when I have my girls next to me, there’s something to be said of like, maybe not.”

She also posted a past Instagram story about the ordeal.

“It’s sports … The city wants to win. Everything is fair game … except the fans who booed my children,” the caption read.

Despite the experience, Matthew is not ashamed to have his children in tow before or after games, as shown in this clip where one of his girls gives him advice before a game.

They even made an appearance after their father won his first-ever Vince Lombardi Trophy in leading the Rams to the Super Bowl LVI win in their new home of Los Angeles.

The older daughters are also carving out their own athletic careers. They shoot basketballs inside the former Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, where Kelly is a volunteer coach.
