Dan Campbell has created quite the family atmosphere for the Detroit Lions, helping spark 23 victories in the past two seasons off the camaraderie now established in the Motor City.
As it turns out, Campbell is just as much of a family man outside of building the Lions’ cohesion. Here’s a closer look at the children of the Lions’ leader.
Who Are Dan Campbell’s Children?
Cody Campbell
Cody is the second-generation college football player in the Campbell household. While his father went on to Texas A&M as a tight end during his playing days, Cody carved out his own gridiron career.
The son played collegiately at Trinity University at the NCAA Division III level. Unlike his towering father, Cody was a 5’11”, 216-pound TE.
He officially made his CFB debut on Oct. 26, 2019, against Sewanee University. Cody, however, didn’t record many stats including receptions during his college career.
However, he did thrive academically, landing on the dean’s list for four semesters. He went on to study business analytics and technology, with an emphasis on sports management.
Cody also aspired to be a future NFL general manager one day, according to his Trinity University biography. He graduated from the private university in 2022 and is now currently attending the University of Michigan, where he roams around the Stephen Ross School of Business building.
Piper Campbell
Dan’s daughter happens to be a past athlete herself.
She played volleyball for Detroit Country Day School where she was known for providing digs on the court. Piper helped lead the Yellowjackets to a 25-11 overall mark that included a playoff win over Lamphere. Her and the Yellowjackets’ season ended against Norte Dame Prep of Pontiac.
But volleyball isn’t the only thing the daughter is known for.
She has created a strong presence on social media. Piper is often seen interacting with Lions fans through her TikTok page @piper__campbell. She has more than 10,100 followers on her account.
She first began turning to the social media video streaming website in 2021 when her dad took the Lions job. Piper even posted a video hoping to meet new friends in Detroit. As it turns out, she eventually welcomed fans of the Lions, as she holds a weekly question-and-answer session with members of the fanbase on her account.
She’s also active on Instagram, including posting her 2024 graduation while also sharing some heartfelt moments with her famous dad — including a picture of Campbell hugging her after a Dec. 2021 game with this caption:
“You have inspired me to be the best I can be. You’ve shown me endless reasons on why I should never give up. Today might be the biggest example yet. Congrats on the win, you deserve it and I love you very much,” Piper shared on IG.
That was following the Lions’ 29-27 win over the rival Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 5, 2021 — which became Campbell’s first career coaching victory as Detroit’s head coach.
She and her brother eventually watched their father reignite a once-quiet fanbase to roar loudly again. The Lions have gone 23-14 overall the last two seasons, including the 2023 NFC North title and their appearance in the conference championship game.
