How Long Is Browns’ Nick Chubb Out? Timeline, Updates, and Return Date After RB Suffers Knee Injury

With Cleveland Browns running back being injured Monday night, let's take a closer look at the timeline and updates for his possible return to action.

Injuries are the worst part of football. Often times, we get reminders of how physically demanding the sport we love is, and throughout the course of a season, we see unfortunate injuries happen.

Last night was no different, as early in the Monday night contest between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers, Browns starting running back Nick Chubb looked to have suffered a severe knee injury that looks to sideline him for quite some time.

What Happened to Nick Chubb?

Early in the ball game, Chubb took a routine handoff inside the red zone with visions of scoring or getting close to the goal line when he was cleanly hit by two Steelers defenders, one high, one low, that would extend and force his left knee to bend in an unnatural way.

Chubb stayed on the ground clutching his knee and knew right away something was not right. The injury was severe enough that the television broadcast opted not to show the replay.

Shortly after the injury, the trainers brought out the cart to take him off the field, and Chubb’s night would be over.

What Is Chubb’s Injury Timeline?

While it hasn’t been reported in an official capacity just yet, the belief is that Chubb severely damaged his knee, likely holding the star running back out for the rest of the season.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time Chubb has dealt with something like this, as a similar injury took place in 2015 when he was a running back at the University of Georgia.

The timeline isn’t clear at this time, but the safe assumption is that Chubb will miss the rest of the 2023 season with eyes to the future in hopes of getting back on the field sometime in 2024.

Chubb’s Work Ethic Is Unmatched

Anybody who knows or has been around Chubb understands he works his tail off and doesn’t say a word about it. Chubb is the quiet type who lets his play do the talking, and even after scoring a touchdown, he will hand the ball off and get ready for the next drive.

That mentality is something the star running back carries with him off the field as well, with a well-documented record of being one of the hardest-working players in the NFL. There is no telling what this latest knee injury will do for his career moving forward, but what is clear is that Chubb will attack his rehab and get himself back to the best version of himself he can be.
