How Many Picks Do the Texans Have in the 2025 NFL Draft?

The Texans enter Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft with seven picks. They’ve retained their original selections in Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 7, and the other three selections have been added via trades.

The Texans added two of those three selections in the Laremy Tunsil trade. Houston got third and seventh-round selections as well as two 2026 NFL Draft selection in return for sending Tunsil and their fourth-round pick to the Commanders.

Houston added a fifth-rounder in the deal that saw them acquire Stefon Diggs last offseason. However, it cost them a 2025 second-rounder that they had acquired from the Minnesota Vikings prior to last year’s draft.

Houston traded its fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to move up in last year’s draft and its sixth-round pick for former Steelers offensive lineman Kendrick Green.

What Are the Texans’ Biggest Needs in 2025?

  • OT, G, C, WR, DT

The Houston Texans had a strange season last year. Despite never looking entirely convincing, they made it to the AFC Divisional Round, the same spot they were in during their Cinderella 2023 season. The main reason for the unconvincing performances was their offense, which ranked 28th overall, in large part because of an offensive line that ranked 31st.

The offensive line has to be the focus of their offseason, with guard and right tackle being two immediate areas of upgrade. Laremy Tunsil is gone, and finding a long-term left tackle becomes a huge need with Cam Robinson slated to start. They still need to add more pieces on the interior of the offensive line as well, so it will be intriguing to see how exactly the Texans approach the rest of free agency and the draft.

Stroud’s weapons are another area of concern, with Stefon Diggs leaving in free agency and Tank Dell unlikely to play in 2025. Therefore, the Texans need to find a partner for Nico Collins. They traded for Christian Kirk, who is at least a good slot option for 2025 if he can remain healthy after ending the last two seasons on injured reserve. However, with uncertainty over Dell’s future and a lack of starting-caliber options on the rest of the roster, they should continue to address the position in the draft.

The Texans’ defense was excellent last year, ranking seventh and carrying the team to the division title. They have done a good job replacing or retaining talent in that group, with extensions for Derek Stingley Jr. and Jalen Pitre serving as important long-term planning moves. Defensive tackle is the one spot where they look a little light in terms of depth, followed by cornerback.
