The NFL offseason continues to roll on, and Aaron Rodgers remains a media focal point. The 20-year veteran has yet to sign with a new team and is the biggest quarterback domino yet to fall.
Fewer teams are in the market for a veteran quarterback at this stage, with most of the attention now turning to the 2025 NFL Draft. Rodgers recently visited the Pittsburgh Steelers but left without signing a deal. On a recent episode of “First Things First,” former teammate Greg Jennings said he doesn’t believe Rodgers will sign anywhere before the draft.

Greg Jennings: Aaron Rodgers Is ‘Not Going to Sign’ With Team Before NFL Draft
Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets in the 2023 offseason and signed a three-year, $112.5 million contract. But his first season in New York was over almost as soon as it began — he suffered a complete Achilles tear just four plays into the opener. The Jets finished 7-10 and hoped for a bounce-back season in 2024.
Rodgers was limited in the opener, and a five-game losing streak early in the year knocked the Jets out of playoff contention. He threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions — making 2024 one of the worst statistical seasons in the 10-time Pro Bowler’s career.
The Jets’ new front office wasted no time moving on, choosing to absorb $49 million in dead cap to part ways with Rodgers.
Pittsburgh emerged as a serious landing spot, but Rodgers left without a contract. Many believe it’s a matter of when, not if, he signs with the Steelers — but Jennings says Rodgers is operating on his schedule.
“Knowing Aaron Rodgers, understanding what he loves to do — which is play the game of football on Sundays and Mondays and Thursdays … What we know he does not care for is offseason,” Jennings said. “When he first got acquired by the Jets, he was all in the first year. We were praising him about how he was there, he was present, he was with the guys … that’s not really what he wants to do.
“He wants to live his life and be free-spirited and do whatever he wants to do in the offseason, so he’s not gonna sign. He’s not in any rush. April 21 is when offseason workout programs start for clubs with returning head coaches. He’s not going to sign, if it’s up to him, prior to that.”

NFLPA offseason rules state teams cannot begin offseason workouts before the third Monday of April if their head coach is returning. Rodgers has made it clear he doesn’t care much for offseason work—he even skipped New York’s 2024 mandatory minicamp—so expecting him to sign early might be wishful thinking.
Jennings added, “If you’re the Pittsburgh Steelers, you do give him that soft deadline because you know the draft is coming up, and if any of these quarterbacks slip … then he’s probably out of luck. I don’t think he’s going to sign before the draft.”
If Rodgers waits until after the draft and the Steelers draft a quarterback, it could go down as a massive blunder. He says he wants to play, but his actions suggest he may not care much anymore.
