The Jacksonville Jaguars have a handful of stars on their offense, including quarterback Trevor Lawrence. However, one of the most consistently good players has been Lawrence’s college teammate, running back Travis Etienne Jr.

While Etienne is surely one of the best athletes in his family, he isn’t the only one. His younger brother, Trevor, is also a running back, although he’s still in the college ranks. Let’s get to know him.

    Who Is Trevor Etienne?

Born July 9, 2004, in Jennings, Louisiana, Etienne is roughly five years younger than his older brother. He attended Jennings High School in his hometown. During his career, he has rushed for 2,455 yards and 34 touchdowns. As a senior, he had 1,344 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground and was named to the All-American Bowl roster. He was given a four-star ranking on 247Sports.

Heading into college, Etienne had lowered his offer list down to three: Florida, LSU, and Clemson. He could follow in his brother’s footsteps and go to Clemson, he could stay home and go to LSU, or he could be close to where his brother lives now. Ultimately, he committed to Florida and opted to head to Gainesville, just under two hours from Jacksonville, where his brother plays in the pros.

While he didn’t earn any starts as a freshman at Florida, he was on the field every game. He ended the season with 118 rushing attempts for 719 yards, a 6.1-yard average, and six touchdowns. Considering he wasn’t the workhorse, that was a pretty impressive start.

Heading into his sophomore season, expectations were even higher. However, sitting behind Montrell Johnson (Who had transferred in from Louisiana the same year Etienne arrived as a freshman), Etienne didn’t start any games in Year 2, either. He ended the season with 131 attempts for 753 yards (5.7 yards per attempt) and eight scores. He did, however, add 21 receptions for 172 yards and one touchdown, flaunting some versatility.

Displeased with his status as a backup and the lack of team success he was seeing at Florida, Etienne opted to enter the transfer portal after the 2023 season. While he had a host of offers, he ended up landing at Florida’s arch-rival, Georgia. On top of upgrading in terms of a winning program, he also got to become the team’s starter, something that wasn’t in the cards in Gainesville.

After just three games at Georgia in 2024, Etienne has recorded 24 attempts for 157 yards (6.5 per attempt) and zero touchdowns. However, he did miss the season opener against Clemson due to a team suspension. Just weeks later, he’d be named a captain.

Etienne will be draft-eligible for the first time after the season and will likely enter the league, looking to find a home just like his brother did with the Jaguars.
