With less than a month to go until the 2025 NFL Draft, the next generation of NFL quarterbacks, including Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart, continues to divide opinion.
In a recent episode of “The Rich Eisen Show,” former Las Vegas Raiders general manager Mike Mayock gave his take on the 2025 quarterback class.

Mike Mayock Questions Jaxson Dart and Shedeur Sanders
While opinions vary on almost every new prospect that enters the NFL, trying to get a consensus opinion of Sanders is near impossible. Some rank the Colorado prospect as the best quarterback in the class, while others have him graded as a day-two talent.
Dart, meanwhile, has seen his draft projections yo-yo between the first and second rounds, with some recent mock drafts placing him in the top 10 picks. Appearing on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Mayock claimed to view both players similarly before pointing to a potential issue with the young quarterbacks.
“Jaxson Dart could be in play in the first round, he might not be. I look at him very similarly as I do to Shedeur. I think he’s a little better athlete than Shedeur, but neither of them is dynamic. I think he throws with some anticipation. I think he’s a tough kid that can run the football, also. I think he’s accurate.”
Mayock then pointed to a potential issue with Dart’s ability to deal with defensive blitzes.
“I’m talking about blitzing type of pressure. If you watch him against LSU last year, Alabama in ’23, he took 11 sacks in those two games and really struggled down the stretch when his offense needed points.”
Asked by the show’s guest host, Andrew Siciliano, whether he liked any of the prospects slated to be drafted on day two of the 2025 NFL Draft, Mayock provided a brief rundown of the picks.
“Here’s where I stand on this group. Jaxson Dart might go in the first, just out of necessity,” he said, before moving on to Sanders. “I don’t know where Shedeur’s going right now. You know, if Cleveland passes on him and he’s sitting there with a bouquet of roses at No. 3, the Giants have a head coach and a GM, a little bit on the hot seat.”
Mayock then suggested that Sanders would sit behind Russell Wilson for the New York Giants, which wouldn’t help the team’s decision-makers who are under pressure.
However, for every negative opinion on Sanders, there is an equally glowing one. As the weeks go on, new narratives and adjusted projections will undoubtedly emerge as stories, rumors, and leaked information surface. For now, it seems that until their names are called in late April, the futures of these players will remain uncertain.
